How long after I apply will it be until I get a unit?
Bond County provides affordable Housing and does not maintain or operate any emergency housing units or programs. A projected wait list time frame will be provided at the time of application. It is important to remember that these are estimates that can be affected by a number of factors and housing assistance is not guaranteed within the projected time frame provided at the time of application.
Applications generally take 3-4 weeks to process for final approval. Once an application has been approved, the applicant will be placed on the waiting list and contacted by BCHA staff as they approach the top of their designated lists. Bond County Housing Authority will provide initial estimate of wait list times. (Since waiting list status does not generally change on a weekly or even monthly basis, frequent and repeated requests for waiting list updates or status will not be provided)
It is not uncommon that the demand for housing assistance often exceeds resources available to local housing agencies, long waiting periods are common. In Fact, a PHA may close it’s waiting list when it has more families on the list than can be assisted in the near future.
Can I have a pet?
Yes. You will need to pay a refundable pet fee, and sign and abide by the terms of our pet policy. There are strict guidelines regarding types of pets that may be kept. You must complete the pet approval process BEFORE you take custody of the pet.
Can I live in Public Housing if I have a criminal background?
All applicants for all properties and programs must undergo a criminal background check.
What is the purpose of the Housing Authority?
Our goal is to provide drug free, decent, safe, and sanitary housing for eligible families and to provide opportunities and promote self-sufficiency and economic independence for residents.
